Standard Threads concentrate stress on the first thread. The Wave Threaded bolt shown on the first page were designed to evenly distribute across all of its threads
with the unintended result of increasing its tensile strength over 25% based on Finite Element Analysis. What is structurally different
is the Wave Thread pulls through the bolt instead of the outside of a cylinder shape.
This thread allows the application choice between more strength or less weight.
The first independent FEA analysis prepared by Jigar Kumar Patel, ME PhD candidate, UMass, 2012
25% more strength is a fantastic claim and that 7/8 wave thread file with 13,000 point data is available for independent Finite Element Analysis. There are 16 files ready for independent testing for someone willing to commit to posting the results. Their variation affect the distribution of tensile strength.
